What does it look like to be curious? Are you a curious kid?  I hope so!   We live in a fascinating world made by a great Creator.  We learn so much when we observe and ask questions.  I’m not talking about asking rude questions or silly questions we know the answers to already.  Sometimes we feel comedic and like to ask adults those kinds of questions for fun.

But when we are truly curious about the world, we ask questions looking for honest answers.  We take time to notice the world around us.  We observe how things work, how animals behave, how people interact.  And when we ask curious questions, we learn.

I invite you to join me in being curious about our world.  Be a learner that is willing to ask questions and who wants answers.

Let me tell you about a recent day my kids and I were curious.  We were standing in our kitchen that has a view out two windows, one on the front of the house, and one out the back.  Well, all of a sudden, a giant, silent shadow went over the house.  We knew by the look of it and lack of sound, it wasn’t an airplane or a helicopter.  It had to have been a bird.  But what kind of bird?  Obviously not a hummingbird!  Probably not a finch or blue jay.  It couldn’t have been one of our chickens.  They can’t fly very high.

So what did we do?  We ran outside in the direction we thought the shadow went.  I bet you wish I could tell you what it was, but to be honest, I don’t know!  We are still curious.  By the time we got outside, there was just a smaller bird enjoying the updrafts.  Do you know what I mean by that?  Have you ever seen a bird with its wings spread, just gliding on the wind currents?  That’s what this bird was doing.  Maybe he was the bird that made the shadow but maybe not.  I am hoping it was the local bald eagle that I heard just moved in by the lake near us.  My son is hoping it is a new species of bird that has yet to be discovered.  We are still curious and watching. Sometimes our curiosity leads to even more questions.

Come be curious with us as we explore the world around us!
