It is springtime here in Southern California and us humans aren’t the only living creatures enjoying the weather.  Have you noticed all the wild animals that are out and about?  The birds are singing as soon as the sun comes up.  The squirrels and bunnies and running around the yard.  And do you know what animal I keep coming across in the bushes?

Thankfully no, not snakes.  But close!  Several times already this week I have heard a noise in the bushes, looked down, and seen a lizard scurrying across the ground!  Most of the time it is just a tiny little lizard.  But no joke, the past couple of days, I have seen some the size of my hand!  I find it funny that lizards tend to be more scared of humans than we are of them.  Okay, I will admit, the one I found today was probably a foot long and made me scream.  But, almost every single time I spot a lizard, it tries to run away and hide. But recently I have been trying to take a good look at them.

Are you staying curious?  I used to always think of lizards as icky pests.  And, well, yes, they can be icky.  But have you noticed all the details our Creator put into them?  Isn’t God an amazing Creator? I probably find a different species of lizard every day. In fact, if you check out the Reptile Database, you will find a list of 7,770 discovered species of lizards in our world.  You could learn about a new lizard every day for 21 years of your life!

Last time I challenged you to be curious.  Now add to that, observant.  Are you observing the wonder of creation around you?  Are you stopping to notice the lizards? Maybe reptiles aren’t your thing. I understand.  How about all the different species of birds?  Flowers? Butterflies?  Insects? Spiders?  Take a look at your world and marvel at our Creator God who not only made the wildlife but who specially created you!

Ask your parents to help you share in the comments below a part of God’s creation that you have enjoyed observing.
